Semester 2
This project closed out the semester and it was a free-choice project so I chose to do a Nature Reel and recited “Beauty and the Beast” by Tango while the reel played. It’s objectives were to have a variety of shots since it was a reel. It’s time limit was one to three minutes and it required a voiceover, soundtrack, and good lighting. It’s also one of my favorite projects that I created this semester, so I liked what I’ve done and don’t know what else I would’ve done differently if I had the chance to do it again. Only thing that pops in my mind is I would’ve maybe got some shots of the sunset and water shots but that's it. I didn’t really have any challenges during the creation of this, it was probably the easiest project I’ve created. Some things I learned from this is messing with the audio gain and making the sound effects sound realistic. I also learned to manually change the focus of what I was recording, since I had a lot of shots where I shot really close to flowers and plants so it was very helpful manually focusing it on the flower making the shot very good.

This is without a doubt my best and favorite project I’ve made as it was a Champion commercial. This is also my second commercial so it had similar objectives as the previous one, including a selection of a product, variety of shots, and probably the most important is to make it engaging. The time limit for this was 30 to 60 seconds and required a tagline and a music bed. While creating this I didn’t really have any challenges, maybe filming while running and still making it stable but other than that I didn’t really have any challenges. The weather, time, sun all worked in my favor so the lighting was perfect. From this project I learned to use the lighting or background to my advantage as I included the sunset in my closing. I also learned to film dolly’s which is filming while moving parallel to the subject which was pretty challenging to make as it being my first time doing it. If I was to do this project again, I don’t think I would've done anything differently as the creation of this was a perfect and a fun experience and of course the final product was such an amazing commercial.

This was the first project of the second semester which was an Instagram Phishing PSA. Its objectives were to create an effective public service announcement with a hook to get the audience to continue watching it and to explain what the problem is and the solution to it. It was limited to 30-60 seconds and required a voice track, music track, and some graphics. While creating we had the option to work in groups in which my group and I filmed shots and recreated some of the messages and there weren't many challenges during that process. During the editing process, time management was the main challenge I’ve had as I would often fall behind by getting distracted or procrastinating which happened a lot throughout the semester. During this project I’ve learned to apply effects as I applied a vhs effect by messing around with the noise to give it the grainy look and I also messed with the channel blur with the red and blue to give it the iconic vhs look. If I had a second chance a this project, I think I would've experimented with the voiceover to see if I can make it eerier and I also think I would’ve tried to give it a vintage effect because it was what i was originally going for but changed my mind.

For this project, I had my friend demonstrate how to shoot a basketball with a good form. It’s objectives were to film the demonstration of something and being able to explain the steps to it clearly and understandable to the audience. It was also limited to 1-3 minutes long and required a variety of shots, a soundtrack, and good lighting. While filming this, some challenges I had was keeping the lighting constant as it was filmed outside so some shots were bright and others were dim. I also had a challenge with writing a script that describes the steps well enough and also able to meet the time limit. I also had a challenge with time management A takeaway I learned from this project was transitioning from a scene to another by sort of giving the camera a pov shot. If I had the chance to do this project again I think I would start by just completely changing the topic because as I said, thinking of a long enough script was challenging so I would start there. I also would try and do something indoors so the lighting is constant and so it’s not too hot or too cold which was a bit of a problem during shooting.
