Searching For Home

Here is a special project that I’ve built over the span of a year, one that I consider very special in my work.

People are closely attached to where they are from, their home. Your perspective of the world is carefully shaped through the people you grow up around. As you become older, you tend to long for an adventure, choosing to explore the world which overtime reshapes your vantage point. Whether choosing to be extroverted or introverted, seeing more or less, you change as a person. During the process of doing so, you become more comfortable with yourself, but you don't have physical comfort. Eventually, it leads you to come back to one thing, wanting to go back full circle and search for a home.

I began where I live (1) using architectural elements to create frames (2-3) showing how my home shaped my outlook. As I matured I became outgoing, traveling (4) and using my freedom to see the city and lakefront (5-7). In the summer I traveled to Iceland, the first time I spent nights alone. I explored different sceneries (8-9) I've never seen at home. Despite everything, I had one goal; find comfort while being far from home (10-11). I sought exotic views to mirror home (12-14). I noticed I can't evoke similar feelings, my perspective's changed. Leading me to accept a new view as home (15).
